夢周文教基金會

二零一二年，夢周文教基金會慷慨答允，向香港歷史博物館借出一批從英國及內地購得，約二萬張非常珍貴的香港及中國的歷史照片，作為研究及展覽之用。這批照片是經長時間收集而來，非常全面，有以香港及其他商埠等為主題的老照相冊及照片、介紹遠東風光並附有照片插圖的刊物、玻璃底片、立體照片、香港及沿海商埠照相館製作的名片照等；內容十分豐富，涵蓋風土人情、建築、民生、娛樂、商業活動等，當中不少是香港由十九世紀中葉至二十世紀初的珍貴影像，實在難得一見。

 

 

Moonchu Foundation

In 2012, the Moonchu Foundation generously agreed to lend the Hong Kong Museum of History about 20,000 extremely rare old photos of Hong Kong and China that it had recently purchased in the United Kingdom and mainland China for exhibition and research purposes. Comprising pictures that were acquired over a prolonged period of time, the collection covers a comprehensive spectrum of topics and includes old photo albums and pictures on the theme of Hong Kong and other trading ports, illustrated and pictorial publications that contain scenic views of the Far East, glass negatives, stereoscopic photos and cartes de visite. Produced by photo studios in Hong Kong and other trading ports and cities mainly from the middle of the 19th to the early 20th century, these rare and invaluable images offer a rich selection of scenes featuring local customs and practices, contemporary architecture, people at work and at play, as well as commercial activities.
